← Back to Our WorkEvery site we audit has one thing in common: an "Our Work" section that sounds great and shows nothing. Zero actual projects. The time a buyer lands on your site, they've already decided you're a candidate. What they're doing next is looking for proof you've done this before. An empty portfolio section doesn't just fail to help. It actively raises the question you didn't want asked: have they actually done this before?
We see this constantly, and it's rarely because there's no work to show. It's because the work never got built into the site. The projects exist. The photos exist. The testimonials exist, scattered across old proposals and email threads. They just never made it onto the one page a buyer actually checks before picking up the phone.
Three things we tell every client on this:
1. One real project beats ten stock photos. A single case study with numbers, a name, and a quote does more for trust than a gallery of generic job-site shots.
2. "Coming soon" is worse than nothing. A portfolio section with a heading and no content reads as unfinished — which is a strange thing for a business that's supposedly been operating for years.
3. Your best salesperson is a client who'll go on record. If you've got a GC or property manager willing to put their name on a quote, that's worth more than another paragraph about your process.
This is foundational work, not a redesign — pull three projects, get one quote each, put them where buyers are already looking. That's the whole fix.
